Abstract

Printed mill leather articles are one of the leather articles produced at UD. Rohmat Magetan. The problem encountered during the production process of printed mill articles is the appearance of cracks. The purpose of this Final Project is to identify the factors that cause the occurrence of cracks, make efforts to overcome the cracks, and evaluate the results obtained after the improvements. Data collection was carried out using primary data collection metodes dan secondary data collection methods. The raw material used is a 1-side cracked printed mill leather with an area of 13.5 saft. After the improvements, the test results are as follows: gloss test, with a value of 4,0 (in accordance with customer standards); flexibility test, with a value of 4.0 (in accordance with customer standards); nerf cracking/ fracture test, with a value of 5,0 (not cracked/ meets customer standards); paint adhesion test, with a value of 5,0 (not off/ meets customer standards); wet and dry rub resistance test, with a value of 5.0 (no fading/ meets customer standards); thickness test, with a value of 1.68 mm (according to customer standards); and bending test, with the result of no cracks. It is concluded that the improvement efforts carried out through toggling process, thin paint padding, and lacquer solvent can cover the cracked grain surface and improve the quality of the leather.
