Abstract
Tujuan penulisan karya akhir adalah mengetahui pengaruh penambahan bahan penyamak nabati (mimosa) pada proses retanning terhadap kuat tarik kulit softy nappa upper. Retanning merupakan suatu proses yang bertanggungjawab atas karakteristik kulit pada setiap artikel kulit yang berbeda berhubungan dengan kelemasan, kepadatan, elongasi, fleksibelitas, run. Bahan baku yang digunakan ialah kulit sapi wet-blue 362 side sejumlah 6.291,56 sqft dengan berat shaving 643 Kg dengan kualitas A, B, dan C dengan ketebalan (0,9-1,1) mm. Penggunaan mimosa pada formulasi awal sebesar 2%, menghasilkan kulit yang memiliki kepadatan yang kurang pada bagian pantat dan kuat tarik kulit belum memenuhi Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI). Sehingga dilakukan perbaikan dengan melakukan penambahan persentase mimosa menjadi 3%. Berdasarkan hasil perbaikan, secara organoleptis kulit menjadi lebih padat terutama pada bagian pantat. Uji fisis kulit dilakukan di Balai Besar Kulit Karet dan Plastik. Hasil uji fisis pada formulasi sebelum perbaikan menghasilkan kuat tarik 11,543N/mm2, perpanjangan putus 32,86%, kuat sobek 279 N/cm. Sedangkan hasil uji pada formulasi setelah perbaikan menunjukkan kuat tarik 11,852 N/mm2, perpanjangan putus 38,53%, kuat sobek 236,5 N/cm. Hasil pengujian menyatakan bahwa terjadi peningkatan kuat tarik kulit sebesar 0,309 N/mm2. Disimpulkan bahwa penambahan bahan penyamak nabati (mimosa) dapat meningkatkan kuat tarik kulit softy nappa upper di PT Karunia Catur Perkasa. The purpose of the final paper was to find out the effect of adding vegetable tanning (mimosa) on the retanning process to the tensile strength of the softy nappa upper. Retanning is a process that is responsible for the characteristics of the leather in each leather article that is different related to the darkness, density, elongation, flexibility, run. The raw material used is wet-blue 362 side cow skin with 6,291.56 sqft with 643 Kg shaving with A, B and C quality with thickness (0.9-1.1) mm. The use of Mimosa in the initial formulation is 2%, resulting in leather that has less density on the butt and the tensile strength has not appropriate the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). So that repairs are made by adding the percentage of mimosa to 3%. Based on the results of improvement, organoleptically the leather becomes denser, especially in the butt. Skin physical tests were carried out at the Center of Leather, Rubber and Plastic. The results of the physical test in the formulation before repair showed a tensile strength of 11.543N / mm2, breakout extension of 32.86%, tear strength of 279 N / cm. While the results of the test on the formulation after repair showed a tensile strength of 11.852 N / mm2, breakout extension of 38.53%, tear strength 236.5 N / cm. The test results stated that there was an increase in tensile strength of 0.309 N / mm2. It was concluded that the addition of vegetable tanning (mimosa) can increase the tensile strength of the soft nappa upper leather at PT Karunia Catur Perkasa.
