Abstract

Kegiatan pelaksanaan tugas akhir ini dilakukan di PT Karunia Catur Perkasa Malang Jawa Timur. Dengan tujuan untuk menemukan pemecahan masalah pada proses finishing artikel patent leather brush off effect yang mengalami kelunturan pada medium coat. Bahan baku yang digunakan adalah kulit crust netral snuffing kualitas Reject, dengan ketebalan kulit 1,4-1,6mm dan jumlah 55 lembar (2 lembar kulit return) dan luas antara 20-26 sqft/side. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode pengamatan, wawancara, praktek kerja langsung dan studi pustaka. Hasil kulit yang diperoleh memiliki dua warna tan dan hitam kecoklatan. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi proses medium coat yaitu, bahan baku, impregnasi, waktu, penggunaan mesin dan alat finishing, formulasi dan bahan finishing, alat dan bahan uji efek brush off. Hasil pengujian patent leather brush off effect di BBKKP dengan metode uji ketahanan gosok kain kering dan basah memiliki nilai greyscale 3 yang artinya luntur. Setelah dilakukan perbaikan pada medium coat, ketahanan gosok memiliki nilai greyscale 3/4 untuk kain kering dan 4 untuk kain basah namun kulit masih tidak memenuhi standar SNI-06-0234-1989 tetapi sudah memenuhi standar customer. The final project was conducted at PT Karunia Catur Perkasa Malang Jawa Timur. The purpose of the project was to solve problem of finishing process of patent leather brush off effect that has a low rub resistance in medium coat. The raw materials were used in R quality with thickness 1,4-1,6mm and total of 55 side leather (2 side were return leather) and width between 20-24 squarefeet/side. The methods of conducting final project were observation, interview, live work practice, and literature studying. The results of process were the leather having two tone effect such as tan and black brownish color. The factors that affecting the medium coat were raw materials, impregnation process, time, the use of tool and machinery, formulation, and material of finishing process, and the materials for brush off effect test. The test result of patent leather brush off effect were done in BBKKP with dry and wet cloth scrub resistance test method has a grey scale number of 3 value which means medium fade. After upgrading process in medium coat, the scrub resistance had a greyscale number 3/4 for dry cloth and 4 for wet cloth but the leather has still unable to fulfill the standar of SNI-06-0234-1989 but it agreed with customer standard.
