Abstract

The national footwear industry is still facing the domino effect of decreasing global demand since the Covid-19 pandemic. At the domestic level, this industry is still surrounded by various problems. One of them is PT Brodo Ganesha Indonesia. One of Brodo's sports shoes is the kaze racer shoe. Thousands of pairs of these shoes have been produced. Based on information from the development team, after the shoes reached consumers, there were complaints from consumers, including that the kaze racer shoes slipped at the heel when used for walking, making the wearer uncomfortable. Apart from that, consumers also complained of pain in the back of the ankle. The aim of this final assignment is to find the cause of slippage and pain at the back of the ankle when wearing kaze racer shoes and to find a solution to this problem. The problem solving method used was two shoe making experiments, the first experiment used padding with a foam thickness of 10mm and the second experiment used padding with a foam thickness of 6mm. Experiments were carried out starting from making basic patterns, breaking patterns, and making shoes until they became shoe products. Data collection was carried out using observation, interviews, documentation and questionnaires. The final result is an experimental shoe product with improvements to the pattern on the back tab plus ± 3mm towards the outside, the use of knitted material which does not have too strong a pull, the method of assembling the topline part using reverse stick sewing, and the use of foam padding with a thickness of 6mm and a wear test carried out at 10 respondents. The final result was the shoe that was finally chosen, namely the shoe from experiment 2 with a foam padding thickness of 6mm based on the wear test and questionnaire results.
