Abstract

PT Garuda Zein Premium is a company in the footwear industry located in West Java. This company produces shoes according to the requests of government agencies, especially the TNI and Polri. From observations in the Mars PDL shoes article, it was found broken vamp during the assembling process. The purpose of this Final Project is to find out the stages of the assembling process carried out in the company, find out the cause of the broken vamp problem, and provide improvement proposals for problem solving. The methods used for data collection are observation methods, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. Data processing is carried out using Check Sheet and Fishbone Diagram. Check Sheet is used to record problems in the company, while Fishbone Diagram is used to find the root of existing problems. Based on the results of the analysis, the process of assembling PDL Mars shoes starts from gluing the vamp and hardener, lasting, marking, buffing the filler installation, and assembling the upper and bottom parts. The cause of the problem of broken vamp in terms of method is the lack of a long evaporation process in the upper part. In terms of materials, the cause of the problem is the rigid material used and the use of inappropriate material components. Then, in terms of machine the cause of the problem is the equalized setting of the lasting machine and there is damage in several parts of the lasting machine. Based on the factors that caused the existing problem, it was found that the root of the problem there is no periodic checking of the lasting machine. Then, this is used as a basis for a proposal for improvement to minimize the occurrence of broken vamps on PDL Mars shoes, namely by making a check form for periodic lasting machine maintenance.
