Abstract

The creation of shoe samples is an important stage in the design process to ensure the suitability of the design before mass production. This study aims to evaluate the shoe pattern-making process for the PDH Winston shoe at the company, as well as identify and address deficiencies in the sample-making stage. The method used is an R&D- based experimental approach, involving Development Sample stages 1, 2, and 3 until a prototype is formed. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The evaluation of the sample shoes revealed several issues, such as pattern mismatch, pattern appearance, and comfort. Through three development stages, improvements were made until an optimal PDH Winston shoe pattern was obtained and ready to be used as a prototype. Using a step-by-step development method, the shoe pattern revision process successfully improved the quality and suitability of the final product, making it a reference for mass production.
