Abstract
Askara-01 children's sandals are one of the sandal products from PT Carvil Indonesia. These sandals have several problems that cause their low competitiveness in the market. This study aims to determine the problems of Askara-01 sandals so that their sales figures are relatively low and provide efforts to improve the design of Askara-01 children's sandals to increase their sales. This study uses the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method to overcome the problems faced by Askara-01 children's sandals. Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a systematic method in product development that prioritizes customer needs. The process includes identifying the Voice of Customer, technical mapping through the House of Quality, competitor analysis, determining specification priorities, and product evaluation. This approach increases the efficiency, relevance, and competitiveness of products in the market. The Askara-01 children's sandal product was developed to answer the need for comfortable, functional, and visually appealing footwear for children. By integrating modern patterns, casual slip-on designs, and flexible materials such as rubber, this product successfully combines aesthetic elements with ease of use and durability. The House of Quality analysis revealed that pattern strongly correlates with visual appeal, flexibility, and uniqueness; material supports durability and comfort; and design contributes to multifunctionality and ease of use. Correlation mapping between needs and technical features was used to formulate a targeted design strategy. Competitor simulations revealed that similar products with a combination of casual and modern designs were more popular, but material selection was a key differentiator in terms of comfort and durability. This exploration yielded strategic recommendations focusing on optimizing slip-on designs, exploring children's motifs such as little monsters, and selecting ergonomic materials to ensure the product is not only visually competitive but also excels in comfort and functionality.
