Abstract

PT Primarindo Asia Infrastructure Tbk, Bandung, West Java, is a footwear manufacturing company that produces Tomkins brand shoes. One of the products manufactured is the Running Sport shoe. During the internship, a defect known as bleeding or overflow was found in the quarter section of the Running Sport shoe in the spiral motif screen printing. The objective of this final project is to analyze the causes of the bleeding defect in the Running Sport shoes and to find an appropriate solution to resolve the bleeding defect issue. Data collection methods included primary data collection, which consisted of observation, interviews, and documentation, as well as secondary data collection from journals and literature reviews. The analysis of the factors causing the bleeding defect in the Running Sport shoes revealed that it was due to material factors (the screen printing ink was too thin), method factors (there were no standards for the outline size of the pattern), and human factors (lack of attention to detail during the screen printing process and failure to check the ink thickness). The solution to the problem, based on the identified causes, was to conduct experiments to address the issue. The experiments were conducted by changing the thickness of the spiral motif outline in CorelDRAW using three outline size variables (mm): 0.30, 0.35, and 0.40. The results of the experiments concluded that the bleeding defect problem could be resolved, which then served as the basis for developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for using motif outline sizes.
