Abstract

PT Putri Riwaru Jaya is a company engaged in the production of footwear components, specifically shock liners. One of its products is the Aerofomz Active shock liner. In the production process, particularly during the press molding stage, defects such as burnt pads and incomplete molding were identified, which have a negative impact on both product quality and the company’s image. This final project aims to identify the main causes of these defects and to propose effective solutions to improve production quality. The study focuses on the manufacturing process of rubber shock liner pads, with an emphasis on adjusting the material removal time from the mold. The research method employed is experimental, supported by direct data collection, interviews, documentation, and root cause analysis using a fishbone diagram. The experiment was conducted with four variations of material removal time (at the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th minutes). The results showed that removal at the 7th and 6th minutes caused burnt defects, while removal at the 4th minute led to incomplete molding. Only removal at the 5th minute produced optimal results without defects. In conclusion, a material removal time of 5 minutes from the mold is the ideal parameter in the press molding process to reduce defects and maintain consistent product quality.
