Abstract

PT. Primarindo Asia Infrastructure Tbk, merupakan salah satu perusahaan yang bergerak di industri persepatuan dengan menggunakan brand Tomkins yang memproduksi sepatu khususnya sepatu kasual (back to school) dan sport (running). Tujuan dari tugas akhir ini adalah untuk mencari penyelesaian masalah ketidaknyamanan pakai yang timbul dalam lingkup desain pada sepatu kasual (back to school) model Pikachu, yaitu dengan cara mengidentifikasi dan mencari solusi akar permasalahan dari penyebab ketidaknyamanan dari sepatu tersebut. Sepatu kasual (back to school) model Pikachu merupakan salah satu jenis sepatu yang penggunanya diprioritaskan untuk siswa dalam beraktivitas di sekolah. Metode penyelesaian masalah yang digunakan adalah dengan eksperimen desain, sedangkan dalam pengambilan data menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan studi pustaka. Hasil pengamatan dilakukan di PT. Primarindo Asia Infrastructure Tbk Bandung, mulai dari tanggal 19 Februari 2019 sampai 29 Maret 2019. Pada sampel sepatu kasual (back to school) model Pikachu ditemukan permasalahan yaitu potensi ketidaknyamanan setelah dilakukan uji pakai untuk aktivitas berjalan yang disebabkan oleh desain penerapan bahan upper maupun bottom yang kurang sesuai, yaitu pada upper kurang memiliki sirkulasi udara yang baik dan struktur bahan outsole yang kurang elastis dan berat. Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi dari permasalahan tersebut, kemudian dilakukan perbaikan desain dengan merancang ulang kontruksi bahan yaitu penerapan bahan mesh pada upper dan perubahan bentuk desain outsole dengan menggunakan bahan phylon kombinasi rubber pada bottom. Dengan adanya re-desain sepatu tersebut diharapkan terjadi peningkatan dari segi kenyamanan pakai, namun disisi lain terjadi kenaikan biaya sebesar 15%, tetapi setelah dilakukan perhitungan oleh bagian costing melalui pendekatan cost-benefit masih dalam kategori memungkinkan untuk dipasarkan karena telah memenuhi kelayakan anggaran biaya produksi. Perubahan desain dari sepatu kasual (back to school) model Pikachu tersebut diharapkan bisa berdampak positif bagi perusahaan.PT. Primarindo Asia Infrastructure Tbk, is one of the companies engaged in the footwear industry using the Tomkins brand that produces shoes, especially casual shoes (back to school) and sport (running). The purpose of this final project is to find a solutions to the problem of discomfort that arises in the scope of design on Pikachu’s back to school models, namely by identifying and finding solutions to the root causes (back to school) Pikachu models are one type of shoes whoses use is prioritized for students in activities at school. The problem solving method used is by design experiments, while in data collection using the method of observation, interviews, documentation and literature. The observations were made at PT. Primarindo Asia Infrastructure Tbk Bandung, starting from February 19, 2019 to March 29, 2019. In the back to school sample, the Pikachu model found problems, namely the potential for inconvenience after the use test for current activities caused by the design of the upper and bottom materials less suitable, the upper lacks good air circulation and the structure of the outsole material is less elastic and heavy. Based on the results of the identification of the problem, then design improvement were made by redesigning the construction of materials, namely the application of mesh material on the upper and changes in the shapes of the outsole design using phylon rubber combination on the bottom. With the re-design of the shoes, it is the expected to increase in terms of comfort in use, but on the other hand there is a 15% throught the cost-benefit approach in the category allows to be marketed because it meets the feasibility of the production budget. The change in design from the back to school Pikachu model is expeted to have a positive impact on the company.
