Abstract

Produksi artikel suede upper shoes di UD AA Leather dilakukan pada proses pasca tanning. Penggunaan bahan retanning (nabati) yang kurang, menghasilkan kekuatan sobek dan sifat organoleptis (fullness, softness, kelentingan, dan writing effect) kulit suede upper shoes yang kurang memenuhi standar konsumen. Tujuan tugas akhir ini untuk memperbaiki kualitas kulit sesuai standar konsumen dengan meningkatkan kekuatan sobek kulit dan sifat organoleptis kulit suede upper shoes dengan meningkatkan konsentrasi nabati. Metode perbaikan dilakukan pada tahap retanning dengan 2 perlakuan, yaitu perlakuan B (PB) dengan formulasi standar perusahaan (mimosa 2% dan quebracho 0,5%), dan perlakuan A (PA) dengan peningkatan konsentrasi bahan penyamak nabati kondensasi (mimosa 4% dan quebracho 1%). Kekuatan sobek diuji di Balai Besar Kulit, Karet, dan Plastik di Yogyakarta, kemudian diuji secara statistik menggunakan Uji Independent Sample t-Test. Sifat organoleptis diuji melalui responden sebanyak 20. Hasil kuat sobek, fullness, softness, kelentingan, dan writing effect kulit PB secara berurutan adalah 32,233±0,746, 33 (sedang), 55 (tinggi), 34 (sedang), dan 48 (tinggi). Kemudian hasil kuat sobek, fullness, softness, kelentingan, dan writing effect kulit PA secara berurutan adalah 47,709±1,687, 49 (tinggi), 39 (sedang), 43 (tinggi), dan 38 (sedang). Disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan bahan penyamak nabati kondensasi (mimosa dan quebracho) memberikan efek terhadap peningkatan kuat sobek, fullness, kelentingan, dan memberikan efek softness, dan writing effect yang lebih rendah pada kulit suede upper shoes. The production of upper suede shoes at UD AA Leather is carried out in the post tanning process. The use of retanning agent (vegetable) is lack, resulting in tear strength and organoleptic character (fullness, softness, resilience, and writing effect) of upper shoes of suede leather that does not passed consumer standards. The purpose of this final paper is to improve skin quality according to consumer standards by increasing the tear strength of the skin and organoleptic properties of upper shoes suede leather by increasing the concentration of vegetable. The method was carried out at the stage of retanning with 2 treatments, there are treatment B (PB) with standard company formulations (mimosa 2% and quebracho 0, 5%), and treatment A (PA) with increasing of concentrations of condensed vegetable tan (mimosa 4% and quebracho 1%). Tear strength was tested at the Center for Leather, Rubber and Plastics in Yogyakarta, then tested statistically using the Independent Sample t-Test. Organoleptic properties were tested by 20 respondents. The result of PB treatment are recpectively, tear strength, fullness, softness, resilience, and writing effects in sequences were 32,233±0,746, 33 (medium), 55 (high), 34 (medium), and 48 (high). The results of the PA treatment which included tear strength, fullness, softness, resilience, and writing effects are respectively 47,709 ± 1,687, 49 (high), 39 (medium), 43 (high), and 38 (medium) The conclution is, increasing the condensed vegetable tan (mimosa and quebracho) had an effect on increasing the tear strength, fullness, resilience, and reduce the effect of softness, and writing effect of suede upper shoes.
