Abstract

The quality of inner tubes directly affects user safety and production process efficiency. This study aims to improve the acceptance rate of 7.50R16 inner tube products at PT XYZ, which has recorded the lowest acceptance rate among all specifications. The specific objectives are to analyze the production process stability from February to March using a P-Chart, identify the main causes of low acceptance through a Fishbone Diagram, and evaluate the effectiveness of improvements applied in April. This research uses a quantitative approach. P-Chart analysis is used to assess process stability, while the Fishbone Diagram is applied to identify root causes of defects. Data analyzed includes primary data from observations and interviews, and secondary data in the form of production records and daily defect counts. The findings show that the process in February–March was unstable, with a cumulative acceptance rate of 96.59%, and several points beyond control limits. The dominant defect was cracking at the outer joint 1.28% of total production, caused by human, machine, method, and material factors. After implementing corrective actions—replacing raw materials with MV above 60 MU, conducting operator supervision, and performing hourly inspections of products and machines—the production process in April became stable. The acceptance rate rose to 98.46%, and total defects decreased by from 3.14% to 1.56%. This study concludes that the systematic implementation of P-Chart and Fishbone Diagram, along with targeted corrective actions, is effective in improving process stability and product quality for 7.50R16 inner tubes at PT XYZ.
