Abstract
The implementation of industrial work practice at PT Sejin Fashion Indonesia revealed that the process of attaching the N logo component to the upper of New Balance ML/WL 574 shoes remains inefficient, despite the use of computer stitching technology. The current process involves two main stages—gluing and stitching—which result in a total cycle time of 121 seconds and lead to wasted time, labor, and increased maintenance load for tooling such as gauges. Through observation and analysis, it was found that efficiency could be improved by modifying the pallet design on the computer stitching machine. This modification aimed to integrate the gauge function into the pallet, thereby eliminating the gluing process so that the N logo attachment could be completed in a single stitching stage. The modified pallet was made from acrylic material using laser cutting technology, then tested in an actual production environment to determine its impact. The test results showed that the average cycle time decreased to 99 seconds, indicating an efficiency improvement of 18%. Furthermore, the accuracy of N logo placement was maintained, with no displacement or product defects. Overall, the pallet modification proved effective in streamlining workflow, reducing labor dependency, shortening production time, and maintaining stitching quality and logo positioning precision.
