Abstract

PT Tah Sung Hung is a shoe manufacturing company located in Brebes, Central Java. This company produces shoes under the Adidas brand, one of which is the Gazelle Bold W model. When using this model of shoe for daily activities, there are complaints from consumers who feel uncomfortable in the instep. This makes the HQ (Head Quarter) request to replace the tongue material from Ecotex to Releather. During the material replacement process, a defect was found in the debossing process, namely a curved tongue component. Based on these problems, this Final Project was compiled to analyze the factors causing the defect and provide suggestions for improvements to overcome the defect. The data collection method used is primary data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation, while secondary data collection through websites, books, reports, and journals. To analyze the factors causing the problem, a fishbone diagram was used. From the results of the fishbone diagram analysis, it was found that the causal factors were material factors, namely the replacement of the tongue material to Releather material which has a very flexible and thin texture and from machine factors, namely irregular temperature and pressure settings for the debossing machine due to the absence of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for setting the temperature and pressure of the debossing machine for the Releather material component. Of these two factors, the root cause of the problem is the machine, namely the lack of a standard operating procedure (SOP) for setting the temperature and pressure of the debossing machine for Releather material components. Based on this root cause, the author proposes the development of an SOP for setting the temperature and pressure of the debossing machine for Releather material components. This is achieved by reducing the initial temperature from 100°C-150°C to 90°C and the pressure from 80-85 psi to 70-75 psi. The proposed results indicate a reduction in the defect rate from 29% to 20%.
