Abstract

This final project discusses the problem of wrinkling defects on the toe cap of Youth Casanova shoes during the lasting process at PT. Golden Step Indonesia. These defects have an impact on product quality decline, increased product repairs, and hampered production efficiency. The purpose of this study is to identify the causes of wrinkling defects and find appropriate solutions to minimize the occurrence of these defects. The material studied includes the shoe assembly process, especially at the lasting stage. The methods used in data collection are direct observation in the field, interviews with related parties, and visual documentation. Data were analyzed using the fishbone diagram method to determine the root cause of the problem. The results of the analysis indicate that the main causes of wrinkles come from two factors, namely materials and machines. Upper materials that are too thin or wavy, inconsistent toe lasting machine pulls due to worn components, and the temperature of the chamber heating machine that exceeds the standard are the dominant causes of the defects. The implemented solutions include strict selection of upper materials according to SOP, routine maintenance and calibration of the toe lasting machine, and monitoring the chamber temperature with a thermogun every two hours accompanied by a temperature control check sheet. The evaluation results after the repairs showed a significant reduction in the number of wrinkling defects.
